The Ultimate Abs Solution Guide

It’s no surprise just about everyone would love to have a flat, tight midsection but America’s obsession with getting “abs” has led to a lot of misinformation that waste people’s money. Let’s get to the bottom on how to get chiseled abs.

Use weighted exercises - If I wanted to build my biceps, would I walk over and grab a pair of five pound dumbbells and do 200 hundred reps? No, because I wouldn’t see results. The volume is there but the intensity or resistance isn’t enough. Unfortunately, tons of people feel it necessary to drop down and do hundreds of abs. Instead, add weight to a basic stomach crunch and do 12-15 reps. If you can do more, get some more weight. I never, ever go over more than fifteen reps per set and I do have a six pack. This works.

Get off the floor – A lot of people think the primary purpose of the abdominals is for forward flexion. This is not true. The primary function of your stomach is to stabilize your spine and hold it upright. Exercises like squats, dead lifts require tremendous stabilization as well as pull-ups. In fact, some top college strength coaches do no direct abdominal work.

Hit the treadmill - It is well proven that spot reduction is really a myth. When you lose weight, you lose it everywhere. We don’t have the luxury where we lose it first which is typically the face and neck. We all have abs. If you didn’t, you couldn’t sit up, it’s just most of us have too high a percentage of body fat. The solution for achieving lower body-fat is simple. If you burned 400 calories six days a week through exercise, that would be an additional 2400 calories, almost a whole pound of pure fat. If you also reduce your food intake by 500 calories a day, then it’s 5400 calories a week, plenty to lose more than a pound of fat every week. Those abs will be showing up in no time.

Question from viewers:

Seth
When I do crunches, why do I never feel it in my lower abs?

Jax
I am 182 pounds but I’m trying to get up to 195. I lift a lot of heavy weight but I need to know how many grams of protein a day I should be taking?
