What makes Habitual Health®
different than the other
programs?

Habitual Health® doesn’t focus on
teaching you just how to exercise
or eat right but also on how you
can develop habitual feelings that
make you want to do it. It’s not
just about why fruits and
vegetables are healthy for you
(because you already know) but
how you can develop the proper
habits that will allow you to prefer
that piece of fruit over that piece
of chocolate cake. It also focuses
on the initial "start" process and
teaches you how to instill strong
levels of motivation and confidence,
two traits that arecritical for
developing consistency while
stressing the importance of proper pacing to prevent Wes Cole picture burnout. Habitual Health® is not a new diet or fitness program, it is a philosophy, that enables you to utilize all your great nutrition and fitness knowledge.

Do I need to have access to a gym to follow Habitual Health®?

NO! This country was statistically healthier before there were such things as health clubs. It becomes more of an option as you progress in Habitual Health® but our concept on exercise and fitness has always been developing habits to get healthy and remain healthy outside the gym especially in the early stages.

How much weight should I expect to lose? How much muscle can I gain on this program?

Your results will depend on many things: your current physical condition, how ingrained your bad habits are, the kind of physical activities you choose and how quickly your habits can be altered. What you need to understand is, that when you make it through Habitual Health®, your body will actually crave whole grains, lean meats, vegetables and fruit and you will only be able to tolerate very small portions (if any) of unhealthy food. Your body will crave physical activity often; otherwise you just won’t feel right. When you follow a lifestyle like this, fitness and health is an inevitable side effect of your newly refined habits.

Beth holding a sugar free chocolate cake picture What kinds of diet does Habitual Health® endorse: Low-carbohydrate, low-fat, calorie counting, and what do you recommend as far as fitness: weight lifting, aerobics or both?

This is a very common question.
People want to know immediately
what makes Habitual Health®
unique. As far as nutrition and
fitness, we strongly advocate a
balanced diet that includes plenty
of vegetables, fruit, nuts, lean
meats, whole grains, etc. In
regards to fitness, we recommend
a combination of weight-bearing
activities that stimulate muscle
growth and cardio vascular
exercises that strengthen the heart
and lungs. However, in the
beginning, our fitness program
steers away from the typical
"health club" scene that has left
so many confused and discouraged.

If you’re looking for a new fad diet or an "ultra quick workout program", then keep looking because that’s not what Habitual Health® is about. What makes Habitual Health® unique is our focus on the real problem most people face when it comes to their health and fitness goals – their ingrained habits. Many don’t understand just how strong their habits can be and experience frustration when momentary burst of motivation leaves them unsuccessful and burned out. Habitual Health® explains the power of your habits in detail and teaches you how to take the appropriate steps of action to, once and for all, change them to work for you, not against you.

I have heard that this program is a much longer process than the typical health programs out there. Why is this?

The numerous health and fitness courses that promise total body changes in just a matter of weeks are misleading people. What you need to remember is that drastic, quick weight-loss is not our objective; neither are mild strength or muscle gains. Often people can see results on these programs because they start off with hardcore dieting and exercise programs that could challenge a professional. However, they don’t make the realistic consideration that this approach can strain the strongest of motivation. Consequently, only a very small percentage can maintain 100% consistency with such strict programs. Not surprisingly, when it comes to altering habits, consistency is absolutely crucial both mentally and physically. Habitual Health® is a habit altering program and this simply takes more time but, understand that when you truly change your habits, you enter a world where relapses don’t exist and where healthy living is all you truly want.

I know the importance of eating healthy and exercising but health food just doesn’t taste good and I find working out so incredibly boring that I don’t think I could ever maintain the discipline or will-power to continue a healthy lifestyle forever. What’s wrong with me?

Most people believe that discipline and will-power are the driving forces behind the world’s habitually healthy but this is not the case. Understand that even the most motivated person in the world could not rely on will-power or discipline all the time. The reason healthy food tastes bad to you is because it is not your habit to eat these foods. As bad as sugar and saturated fat may be, it is still your ingrained habit. Your mind and body are not only accustomed these foods but also you, in a sense, need them. That chocolate cake gives you a real sense of emotional comfort when you bite into it and, even physically, your taste buds are so accustomed to the flavors of junk food that it is no wonder why a piece of fruit does not sound as tempting as cheesecake.

Exercise is no different. When your body is not accustomed to physical activity, you don’t want to do it because your body feels like you can do without it so easily.

When you take the proper steps to alter your habits, you will re-train your mind and body to "need" exercise whether you think it’s boring or not. Your body will crave healthy food like some crave cheeseburgers. This lifestyle will become mentally familiar to you thereby making anything outside of "healthy diet and exercise" unacceptable.

Can I use the concept of Habitual Health and apply it to another diet or exercise program that is more to my liking?

Vegetarian diets, popular low-carb diets and extreme body building/sports diets are so difficult to follow that the requirements go beyond strong motivation and will-power. In fact, most of the programs on the market are good but lack a realistic, stable approach. Therefore, I highly recommend going through my entire program before using others like these.

There is no sense trying to figure the perfect percentage of carbohydrates and protein, or getting on an advanced weight-
lifting program if your current habits include drinking 5 cans of pop a day or exercising once a month. You need to take care of the basics before you get into the details. Habitual Health® is about the BIG things affecting your health. Don’t
worry about your paint job if your
                                      transmission is shot. Habitual
                                      Health®
teaches you how to take
control of your habits. Once you
learn the basic principles of habit
altering, you can alter your habits
to prefer anything from low-carb to
                                      vegetarian. Having said that, we
                                      here at Habitual Health® have
                                      always preferred a balanced diet
                                      over any fad diet.

I have failed on so many
                                             different diet and fitness
programs in the past and my
confidence is shot. What do I do?

You likely took on too much at
once. It is good to take action
towards your health goals but you
also need to be able to control your enthusiasm in order to prevent burn out thereby preventing failure and a major blow to your self-esteem. Confidence is important; so much so that I dedicated an entire section in my program talking about how to regain confidence. I will motivate and inspire you right from the beginning. Confidence can’t be developed without taking action, so when you follow Habitual Health®’s step-by-step method for taking action you will learn how to do it correctly, in a controlled manner, allowing you to achieve results and regain confidence.
